India and Germany agree to Strengthen their Cooperation in the field of Science & Technology
A Parliamentary delegation from Germany led by Dr. Simone Raatz, the Chairman of the German Parliamentary Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment called on the Union Minister for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences Dr. Harsh Vardhan in New Delhi  to discuss issues relating to mutual cooperation.  Both sides agreed to strengthen their cooperation in the field of Science & Technology with continued funding for the projects already in progress.  Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that India is committed to collaborations with Germany, which India considers to be its strong partner in the field of Science & Technology.
German delegation expressed happiness at India’s continued support to the research project on nuclear fusion technology.  They also expressed interest in collaborating with India in the area of Solar Energy and other clean and green technologies.

  The primary mandate of HSFC is to spearhead ISRO’s Gaganyaan programme through co-ordinated efforts and focus all the activities that are carried out in other ISRO centres, research labs in India, Indian academia and Industries towards accomplishing the mission. HSFC, as the lead Centre for Human space flight activities conforms to high standards of reliability and human safety in undertaking R&D activities in new technology areas, such as life support systems, Human Factors Engineering, Bioastronautics, Crew training and Human rating & certification.   A radio signal originating from atomic hydrogen in an extremely distant galaxy was detected by the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) located in Pune. This is the largest astronomical distance over which such a signal has been picked up. The findings have been published in the scientific journal  Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society . Astronomers from McGill University in Canada and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru have used data from the telescope to detect atomic hydrogen.  GMRT is a low-frequency radio telescope that helps investigate various radio astrophysical problems ranging from nearby solar systems to the edge of the observable universe.  Atomic hydrogen is the basic fuel required for star formation in a galaxy. When hot ionised gas from the surrounding medium of a galaxy falls onto the universe, the gas cools and forms atomic hydrogen.
