Due to the accident which took place on INS Sindhuratna submarine which resulted in two navy officials missing, Navy Chief has resigned and Robin Dhawan took charge till the new navy chief to be appointed.

Successful Trials of Akash Surface to Air Missile System

Akash the indigenously designed developed and produced Surface to Air missile for the Indian Army was once again successfully flight tested  at the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur. These were part of a series of trials being conducted in various engagement modes from the first of Production Model system being produced to equip two regiments of Indian Army. Both,  flight destroying a target in receding ting mode, as well as the  destroying an approaching target, fully met the mission objectives and few more trials are planned in different engagement modes. -PIB

India and ADB Sign US$300 Million to Improve Key Road Connectivity in Chhattisgarh

Government of India (GoI) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed an agreement for a US $300 million loan to help improve road connectivity along key corridors in the State of Chhattisgarh. The Project has been approved with an objective to improve more than 900 kilometers of State roads, in line with the Chhattisgarh Road Master Plan, involving upgradation of roads sections and strengthening culverts and bridges. -PIB

Monorail launched in MUMBAI

Indo-Japan Monorail Conference The Minister of Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Kamal Nath has lauded the Japanese Government and the Japanese Companies for their cooperation in the development of Metro system in India. He was addressing the Indo-Japan Monorail and Light Rail Transit (LRT) seminar in Delhi today. The Minister said that this cooperation will now be extended to the development of Monorail and (LRT) system in various cities of India. He said that now there is a need to look beyond the traditional metro systems and develop now other systems like Monorail which are very useful for congested areas and are also more environment friendly. These systems, he said, are essential to supplement the Metro system as has been demonstrated by the Japanese example. Bio - Technology parks - PIB

Bio-Technology Parks     Details of the Biotechnology parks aided by Department of Biotechnology currently functioning in the country are as follows:   i.          Uttar Pradesh: Lucknow BT Park-The Park has been established at Lucknow with support from DBT and started operations from 2006. ii.        Andhra Pradesh: Hyderabad BT Park-The Park has been established by CSIR-IICT and Govt. of AP with support from DBT and started operations from 2009. iii.       Tamilnadu: TICEL Bio Park (Chennai)was established by Govt. of Tamilnadu in Chennai, India and is in operation since Nov, 2004. DBT had sanctioned grant for establishing a Biotechnology Core Instrumentation Facility (BTCIF). iv.      Tamilnadu: The Golden Jubilee Biotech Park for Women (Siruseri, Kanchipuram District) was established by Govt. of Tamilnadu with support from DBT and is operationalsince 2001.     Details of achievements of the above mentioned parks after being set up :   i.
