Depreciation in Rupee Value (An Analysis)

The rupee is at historic low of 58.2-to-the dollar, having been subject to a sharp 7.5 per cent nominal depreciation since early May. Given the short-term perspectives of interested market observers, attention has been focused on some immediate triggers such as the signal of a possible retreat on monetary easing in the United States and India’s adverse report card in terms of GDP growth, inflation and above all the current account deficit. Since the former could strengthen the dollar, it is seen as having encouraged a reverse flow of capital to the United States in search of dollar denominated assets. On the other hand, poor numbers in India are seen as provoking a pull out of capital from the country. It is the resulting exodus of capital, visible recently in the debt market, that is seen as underlying the rupee’s decline. The role of these factors, among that of many others, as possible proximate explanations of the rupee’s descent cannot be denied. But a more fundamental underst

India's First Navigational Satellite launched!!

India’s first dedicated navigation satellite, the IRNSS-1A, developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation, was successfully put in orbit. The launch vehicle, PSLV-C22, bearing the 1,425-kg navigation satellite, blasted off the launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre here at the scheduled lift-off time of 11.41 p.m. As the PSLV-C22 tore into the night skies and set off four stages of ignition and separation, all the while gaining in altitude and velocity, down on earth, twitchy mission controllers at the command centre awaited the final confirmation of the mission’s success. A round of applause greeted the successful kick-starting of the fourth stage of ignition, arguably the most critical component of the mission to place the satellite in the targeted orbit. About 20 minutes after the lift-off, the PSLV-C22 completed its task of injecting the IRNSS-1A into a sub geosynchronous transfer orbit with a 284-km perigee (nearest point to the Earth) and 20,650 km apogee (f

IQ Versus EQ!!

Well we all are aware of Intelligence Quotient but how many of us are aware of Emotional Quotient(Emotional Intelligence). A very apt move by UPSC to include it in MAINS syllabus, because in present scenario EQ is lacking. We are having highly intelligent officers but the RED TAPISM shows they lack EQ. Everything in this world cannot be counted in terms of monetary benefits and materialism, that is not basic human nature. There are certain things which surpass these things " feel GOOD factors ". Thats why the lifestyle diseases, the stress levels have increased, Anxiety, Depression. The youth is not able to cope with such pressures thats why Suicides have increased, Anti Social Elements have increased. Its high time people understand that things like happiness, love, humility, empathy.sympathy are all very important too than IQ alongwith Honesty, Trustworthiness, compassion, love for Environment, (The nature which sustains us we are destorying it how can that be cal

Bio-Pharmacy

Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) or farm science centres exist in almost all districts of the country to support farming activities. But only a handful of them are able to conceive new innovative ideas and transform them into action at the field level. The Kerala Kannur kendra is one such institution that has been successful in introducing an agro bio pharmacy and farmers’ engineering service and training (FEST) centre. The major problem faced while adopting organic farming is the non-availability of trustworthy organic products and the cumbersomeness of preparation of organic products. Different products An array of products ranging from tobacco decoction to pheromone traps are produced and sold at the pharmacy. The labour for the production of these items is provided by different self-help groups trained by the Kendra. “It is a concept conceived by us and is aimed at providing inputs required for organic agriculture. Jamini Roy An artist

Jamini  Roy (1887 – 1972) was one of the earliest and most significant modernists of 20 th  century Indian art who played a prominent role in breaking away from the art practices of his time. His career spanning over nearly six decades had many significant turning points showcasing the versatility in his visual language. Trained in the British academic style of painting in the early decades of the 20 th  century,  Jamini  Roy became well-known as a skilful portraitist. He received regular commissions after he graduated from the Government Art School in what is now Kolkata, in 1916. However, the first three decades of the 20 th  century saw a sea-change in cultural expressions in Bengal.   The growing surge of the nationalist movement prompted all kinds of experiments in literature and the arts. In visual arts also the experiments were clearly manifest with the founding of the Bengal School by  Abanindranath  Tagore rejecting European naturalism and the use of oil as a medium.
