India Signs Loan Agreement with ADB for $300 Million for Improving Regional Road Connectivity along the North Bengal-North Eastern Region (NER); About 500 Km of Roads to be Constructed under the Program

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India signed a $300 million loan agreement aimed at improving the road connectivity and increasing the domestic and regional trade along the North Bengal-North Eastern Region (NER). The loan is the first tranche under $500 million multi-tranche South Asian Sub-regional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) Road Connectivity Investment Program. Under this program, about 500 km of roads will be constructed. Shri Tarun Bajaj, Joint Secretary (Multilateral Institutions), Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance signed the Agreement on behalf of the Government of India while Ms. Teresa Kho, Country Director of ADB’s India Resident Mission signed the Loan Agreement on behalf of ADB. Coal Minister Launches Projects Monitoring Portal to Enhance Efficiency, Transparency & Improve Communication Between B2G, G2G & G2B

With the view to putting in place an institutional mechanism to track stalled investment projects, both in the public and private sectors and to remove implementation bottlenecks in these projects on a fast-track basis, Shri Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of State ( IC) for Power, Coal , New & Renewable Energy has launched online Coal Projects Monitoring Portal (e-CPMP) for all large projects, both public and private in the Ministry of coal here today. Speaking on the occasion , Shri Goyal said that the new system will bring in more transparency and responsiveness in the Ministry. Shri Goyal expressed his confidence that each of 30 allottees will successfully mine each piece of coal that is expected from them. The Government will encourage everyone to do more mining so that each one of allottee will not only meet their targets but exceed their targets, Shri Goyal added. Government to Invest 10 Billion US $ in the Chip Manufacturing Facilities Coming up in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh

Infrastructure for chip manufacturing and designing will be considerably strengthened in India to cater to the growing domestic demand and to cut down the imports in the next few years. Addressing the first Indian Electronics Expo organized by Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) in New Delhi yesterday, Secretary, Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India Shri RS Sharma, revealed that the government would be investing US$ 10 billion in the chip manufacturing facilities coming up in Gujarat and UP, where a consortium of manufacturing firms have come up to set up the production bases. India would also be investing US$ 400 million in developing an Indian version of micro-processor. These are part of the initiatives that are under way to create an eco-system that lays focus on high ended innovation. PSLV-C27 Successfully Launches India's Fourth Navigation Satellite IRNSS-1D

ISRO's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, PSLV-C27, successfully launched the 1425 kg IRNSS-1D, the fourth satellite in the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) (March 28, 2015) from Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR, Sriharikota. This is the twenty eighth consecutively successful mission of the PSLV. The 'XL' configuration of PSLV was used for this mission. Previously, the same configuration of the vehicle was successfully used seven times. After the PSLV-C27 lift-off at 1719 hrs IST from the Second Launch Pad with the ignition of the first stage, the subsequent important flight events, namely, strap-on ignitions and separations, first stage separation, second stage ignition, heat-shield separation, second stage separation, third stage ignition and separation, fourth stage ignition and satellite injection, took place as planned. After a flight of about 19 minutes 25 seconds, IRNSS-1D Satellite was injected to an elliptical orbit of 282.52 km X 20,644

Budget 2015-16

Reiterating that the Government’s commitment to farmers runs deep, the Finance Minister proposed to fully support Agriculture Ministry’s organic farming scheme – “Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana”. Stating that the Pradhanmantri Gram Sinchai Yojana is aimed at irrigating the field of every farmer and improving water use efficiency to provide ‘ Per Drop More Crop’’ , Shri Jaitley proposed allocation of Rs. 5,300 crore to support micro-irrigation, watershed development and the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana. In order to support the agriculture sector with the help of effective agriculture credit and focus on small and marginal farmers, the Finance Minister proposed to allocate Rs. 25,000 crore  to the corpus of Rural Infrastructure Development fund (RIDF) set up in NABARD, Rs. 15,000 crore for Long Term Rural Credit Fund; Rs. 45,000 crore for Short Term Cooperative Rural Credit Refinance Fund; and Rs. 15,000 crore for Short Term RRB Refinance Fund.
