Japan to assist in making Chennai, Ahmedabad and Varanasi Smart Cities UK for Government to Government cooperation for smart city development Japan has decided to be associated with the development of Chennai, Ahmedabad and Varanasi as smart cities. This was today conveyed by Japan’s Ambassador to India Mr.Kenji Hiramatsu during his meeting with Minister of Urban Development Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu.   Mr.Hiramatsu further said that Japan is quite interested in urban development initiatives of the Government of India and decided to be a partner.   Responding to Shri Naidu’ observation about the need for speedy action, Japan’s Envoy said “We would like to match the action oriented approach of the Government under Prime Minister Shri Modi”. Cabinet approves MoU between India and Kenya on bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture and allied sectors The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Kenya on bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture and allied sectors. The MoU covers various activities in these fields which include agricultural research, animal husbandry and dairy, livestock and fisheries horticulture, natural resource management, post-harvest management and marketing, soil and conservation, water management, irrigation farming systems development and integrated watershed development integrated pest management, agricultural plant, machinery and implements, sanitary and phytosanitary issues. Cabinet approves Agreement between India and Uruguay regarding Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in Customs Matters The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved signing and ratifying an Agreement between India and Uruguay regarding Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in Customs Matters.   The Agreement will help in the availability of relevant information for the prevention and investigation of Customs offences. The Agreement is also expected to facilitate trade and ensure efficient clearance of goods traded between the countries. Asia's first ‘Gyps Vulture Reintroduction Programme' launched "With the success the programme has become, I believe we would again touch the number of four crore vultures in the country in the next 10 years” -   -  Union Environment Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar, speaking of the  vulture breeding and conservation programme being carried out by the Government of Haryana in Pinjore. The Minister was speaking after launching Asia's first ‘Gyps Vulture Reintroduction Programme' along with the Haryana Chief Minister, Shri Manohar Lal, at Pinjore today. They jointly released two Himalayan Griffons into the wild from the Jatayu Conservation Breeding Centre, Pinjore.   When they lifted the front netting giving the captive Himalayan Griffons the option of joining the wild Griffons, the released vultures readily stepped outside and joined the wild vultures.
