CARE AND PROTECTION OF WOMEN
Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana
· To save and empower girl child by generating awareness and improving the efficiency of welfare services meant for women.
· Launched in January 2015
· Implemented in 161 districts; improved child sex ratio in Haryana.
· Preliminary reports for 100 districts indicate that for the time period between April-March 2014-15 & 2015-16, an increasing trend in Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB) is visible in 58% of the BBBP districts;
· Haryana has registered a remarkable improvement in the sex ratio at birth (SRB) with the ratio jumping to 938 in February 2017. The average SRB for the past one year from March 2016 to February 2017 has been recorded as 907.
· Budget allocation for scheme increased in 2017-18 to 200 crore rupees.
· Ministry of HRD has allocated Rs. 5 lakh per district, for instituting district level awards to be given to 5 schools in each district every year.
Sukanya Samriddhi Khata (WCD)
· Launched by the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi on 21st January 2015; under the Beti Bachao, BetiPadhao Campaign.
· To meet the expense of the Girl child’s higher education and marriage.
· Small affordable deposit earns one of the highest rates of interest.
· More than 1 crore accounts opened: 11000 crore rupees deposited.
UJJWALA (Petroleum)
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana
· Scheme for Providing Free LPG connections to Women from BPL Households launched by PM in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh on 1.5.2016
· To ensure universal cooking gas coverage, empower and protect women’s health, reduce cooking time
· To create jobs for rural youth in supply chain.
· 2,07 crore LPG connection provided to BPL Households (As on 5th April)
· Scheme spread all over the country, now in 694 districts
· Target is to provide five core LPG connections in three years during 2016-19).
· Rs.8000 crores earmarked

MAHILA SHAKTI KENDRAS
· To remodel the Anganwadi centres as centres for women empowerment in the villages
· To be set up in 14 lakh Anganwadi Kendras at the cost of Rs.500 crores
PRADAHAN MANTRI AWAS YOJANA-GRAMIN
· Registry of the houses to be made in the name of women
SIX MONTHS MATERNITY LEAVE
· To enable working women to get at least six months of paid leave so that they can provide proper care to the child
· 26 Weeks Maternity Leave for working women by amendment to Maternity Benefit Act which came into effect from 28.3.2017
Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan-PMSMA
· It aims to provide assured, comprehensive and quality antenatal care, free of cost, universally to all pregnant women on the 9th of every month. PMSMA guarantees a minimum package of antenatal care services to women in their 2nd / 3rd trimesters of pregnancy at designated government health facilities.
· It follows a systematic approach for engagement with private sector which includes motivating private practitioners to volunteer for the campaign; developing strategies for generating awareness and appealing to the private sector to participate in the Abhiyan at government health facilities.
· It has been rolled out in all States/ UTs.
· More than 40 lakh antenatal checkups have been conducted at PMSMA sites for comprehensive services under the programme.
· PMSMA is conducted at over 11000 health facilities across all State/UTs.
· Over 3750 volunteers are registered on PMSMA portal across all State/UTs.
· Over 1400 volunteers have provided services under PMSMA.
· More than 2.70 lakh high risk pregnancies have been identified under PMSMA.
MUDRA
· 70% beneficiaries of MUDRA are women.
STAND UP INDIA (Finance, WCD)
· To promote entrepreneurship among SC/ST and Women launched by PM on 5th April, 2016
· To benefit at least 2.5 lakh entrepreneurs.
· Loans of more than 15,000 entrepreneurs approved out of which more than 80% are women.
· Rs. 500 crores have been allotted in 2016-17
· 18,565 women and 4,756 SC/STs have so far benefited from Stand Up India scheme.
· Capital subsidy under new scheme ATUFS (Amended Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme) in Textile Sector will create over 30 lakh jobs, especially for women.
One Stop Centre - SAKHI
· Launched in March, 2015. To provide medical, police, legal and psycho-social counselling to women affected by violence at a single place
· 121 centres already established and functional by end of March, 2017. One centre per district will be established by the end of 2018-19
PANIC BUTTONS on Mobile Phones
To provide an effective mechanism for women to seek help in distress situation
MOBILE APP ‘HIMMAT’(MHA)
· Mobile App ‘Himmat’ launched in January 2015 by Delhi Police (MHA &Deity) to instill confidence in women, to help women in distress and to ensure their safety in Delhi. This application helps women to raise SOS alert in case of any emergency and the same gets reported along with victim/ caller location in real time at Police Control Room and the nearest PCR Van and local police can be rushed to the spot.
Universalisation of Women Helpline (181)
· To provide universal helpline for women who need assistance of any
· It has been decided to provided Universal Helpline to all states
· Funds sanctioned to 33 states over last two years
· 19 states have already set up the facility
WIDOW SHELTER HOME
· To enable widows who do not have family support to lead a life of dignity.
· Largest ever Government funded home for 1000 widows at Vrindavan to be completed by the end of 2017.
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
· Induction of women in all the fighter streams of our Armed Forces: First 3 women fighter pilots commissioned into the Indian Air Force last year
· 33 % Reservation for women in direct recruitment in Non-Gazetted posts in police forces. (MHA)
· Two more Mahila Battalions to be raised by CRPF. (MHA)
· E - MahilaHaat - Online portal for women to help marketing of the products. 26,000 SHGs/Self Help Groups registered, benefit to 3.5 lakh women artisans. (WCD)
· Juvenile Justice Act: Notification issued (WCD)
· Adoption reforms: New Guidelines, Interactive portal for an automated adoption process- CARINGS launched (WCD)
· 33 Railway stations covered for rescue, rehabilitation, restoration of Missing Children. Assistance has been provided to nearly 18000 children since Railway Childline was set up. (Upto march, 2017) (WCD)
· 24x7 toll free helpline for Children-CHILDLINE- expanded from 200 to 406 over the past two years. (WCD)
